Design of mixed H2/H∞ control systems
based on differential evolution algorithm and LMIs

Abstract: Based on differential evolution (DE) algorithm and linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), this paper proposed a new hybrid approach to deal with the mixed H2/H∞ control problem. Investigated both precisely known systems and uncertain systems with polytopic uncertainties. DE algorithm was used to obtain the population of controllers and the LMI based routines were used to minimize the H2 performance criterion. This approach was formulated in terms of different Lyapunov functions, which reduced the conservatism of the usual existing methods. Several examples borrowed from the literature are used to illustrate the validity of the theoretical approach. ......
